Issue Position

We know that education is the key to good jobs at good wages, yet in the last session the House slashed funding for public education from kindergarten to the state university system. We need to treat public education for what it is--an investment in our children and in the future of our state. I support the right of families to opt for private education or home schooling if they so choose--but on First Amendment grounds I oppose the use of public tax dollars to support private and religious education, regardless of whether it is called "vouchers" or tax credits for "scholarships."
